This piece depicts Joseph Smith and his brother, Hyrum, reading the scriptures with their mother, Lucy.
Righteous parents can have a great impact in the lives of their children and others.
It is heartrending to realize that Lucy would outlive each of these young sons.
Sometimes we think that the great events of the Restoration happened far away
and to peopled that were on a different level than us.
As I visited the sites of the Restoration I realized that these early church prophets
and leaders were just like us. But with faith, hard work, patience
and the Lord's hand they accomplished great things, just as we can.
